Web Template / Interface Design
The terms 'web site template' or 'web interface' refers to how a web site would look if you removed all of the page-specific content. For example, imagine this page with none of this text and no image to the left. You would see a blank white and grey page with only the site navigation options, an orange strip and our logo at the top. This would be the web site interface or template.
A site interface can often make or break a visitors perception of the site and the company as a whole. It controls how you navigate the site, how long it takes to download, how easily you can find what you are looking for, and most importantly, whether you will ever come back.

Who would need this type of service?
We typically offer this service to both web design and traditional design companies in response to two common trends. The first concerns web design companies that often have a wealth of programming talent but no dedicated design staff. This can sometimes result in a web site that has great functionality but is let down by its design.
The second trend concerns the more traditional design company who mainly handle 'design for print'. Such companies often have a long-term working relationship with their clients and handle all of their design, from stationery and brochures to exhibition design and advertising. The problem arises when they then require a web site. The client will inevitably go elsewhere when they discover that this is not one of the services offered by their design company.
How does it work?
First of all we request the basic elements we need to produce a design. Typically this consists of a copy of the company logo and some idea of corporate style, usually in the form of a business card. A rough idea of an overall site map is also required to give us some idea of the main site navigation options.
We then produce a range of designs and upload them to a client preview area for viewing. The final stage is to build the chosen layout as a working HTML (web page) template that is fully compatible with major web design packages such Dreamweaver and FrontPage. The client can then place their own content into the empty template to create a complete working page.
As you only pay for the time you are using, it can also be a more cost effective solution than employing a full-time designer. It is a very simple concept that can quickly evolve into an extremely helpful and successful relationship.
